Printing onto Wood for Dept W Launch - Whitechapel EC1
Department W, previously Wickham’s department store on Mile End Road in Whitechapel is one of London’s iconic 1920s neo-classical buildings. Built in 1927 for the Wickham family who ambitiously saw their department store becoming the ‘Harrods of the East End’; the building has been recently restored to accommodate 110,000 square feet of mixed-use space, including workspace, an auditorium, a cafe / restaurant and event space.
We worked with a design agency for the launch of the reimagined space. We printed direct onto birch ply to create a series of wooden pieces to showcase the re-configured floor space, the history of the building and how the development has evolved.
